ST 9/10: Typical Week Survey

by

Ontario in Canada uses a “typical week survey” to collect data about aspects of library use that are hard to collect on an annual basis:

As a part of the Annual Survey of Public Libraries, we ask public libraries to measure activities in their libraries during a typical week in November.  Libraries are requested to record specific statistical information during their typical week for each library service point.

The information to be recorded includes:

  • circulation,
  • in-library materials use,
  • use of electronic information resources,
  • reference inquiries, and
  • visits to the library (both walk-in and electronic)
  • use of public library wireless connection.
